Introduction
For over three decades, the Gerontology Center has provided a wide range of services for students and caregivers in the larger Tri-State community. The Gerontology Certificate may be earned by current undergraduate students as a part of a bachelor's degree in any major and is awarded following completion of 12 credit hours gerontology. In addition to this formal certificate, the Gerontology Center hosts the yearly Research in Gerontology Symposium. Each Symposium features a keynote speaker on that year's theme on topics in aging and the life course, as well as undergraduate student research posters on topics in aging. The Research in Gerontology Symposium is free and open to the public. Previous Symposium topics include:
- 2018-19 Research in Gerontology Symposium “The Good Death: Definitions, Perspectives, and Implications for Public Health.”
- 2019-2020 Research in Gerontology Symposium "Weaving Threads across Time: Using Story to Understand Aging and Ourselves."
If you have an idea for an aging-related program, we would love to hear about it. Please contact Dr. Mari Plikuhn, Director of the Gerontology Center at: mp168@condominiococoa.com.
